The bandana began its evolution in ancient Persia over 2,000 years ago, becoming a perennial of style and self-expression.
In the Southwest, it tells a story of cultural trade passing from the early Vaqueros who spread cattle ranching across the plains and high desert, to the classic cowboys who roamed the Western U.S. These pioneers relied on a crucial kit consisting of: the lariat, the saddle, boots, and the bandana.
Our version of this classic accessory is a hybrid of tradition and design. The tessellated hexagon pattern on soft goatskin features folds recalling the lava flows of New Mexico's El Malpais. This design is a nod to the Webb Space Telescope, bridging the old practical use of the bandana as protection with that of celestial bodies.
