About Karole and Grady

Karole, Grady and our son, Henry, make up a leather studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Our work is a 'mescolanza'. A blending of Karole's Lithuanian heritage, Venezuelan upbringing, and Northern Californian education with Grady's New Mexico roots.
Karole’s professional background in architecture and structural engineering is very present in our designs and is refined by Grady's narratives. Our process is cyclical where we iterate, refine and learn from each attempt. We focus on structured, geometric designs that tell a story about the beautiful place where we live.
Our collections draw deeply from scientific, historical, and environmental themes, blending function with desert literature. Every piece is a dialogue among the designer, the wearer and the collective history of the Southwest.
