Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

The weekend after Thanksgiving is the last chance to catch our breath before the hustle of December. The days will get shorter and the errands and to do lists will get longer as we hurry to the final holidays of the year.

In our house, we are enjoying some quiet, at home time, before our son returns to school. It’s become a tradition to do a short hike along the Rio Grande on Black Friday with our dog, Xuxa. An unexpected snow storm a few weeks ago has led to the river being fuller than previous years. Our sweet shepherd mutt is a long haired dog and thankfully the cockleburrs are a minimal nuisance this year.

We’ve borrowed some new board games from our local game store’s library to play while we finish our Thanksgiving leftovers. One our son really enjoys is Terror Below. It’s not officially the board game for the movie Tremors but it’s basically that. Inspired by his receptiveness to classic cinema we are watching some favorite comedies with him. He’s grown up hearing references to movies like Mean Girls and Heathers and he’s finally old enough to see the source material, so that’s what we’re watching.

Not just this time of year but all year, we rely on the people who deliver orders to our customers. It’s nice that we know the Post Office and UPS employees who work the counters, load packages and drive the trucks that support our business, and we appreciate how much harder their jobs are this time of year!

We wish everyone grace and kindness as another year wraps up. Stay safe and warm.
