Robyn
We are collaborating with Robyn from Berkeley. We found her through Instagram a few years back. After seeing her stylish posts we had to ask her to model some our pieces.
Here is some wonderful information Robyn has shared with us:
"I'm a copywriter, but have always been interested in art, design, and fashion as well. I've toyed with the idea of having a boutique or being a stylist. I also had a silver jewelry (PMC) business on Etsy for a couple of years starting in 2008 and had a necklace in Craft magazine.
I've loved fashion since I was very young. I think I used to pick out clothes for my two older sisters and mom even before 1st grade. When I was in probably 5th or 6th grade, I also used to make clothes for my dolls and draw clothes. I started my fashion IG account because I'm passionate about slow, ethical, and eco-friendly fashion and wanted to highlight brands I like even though I'm very camera-shy. I find having a fashion account has helped me get more creative with my outfits and wear things in new ways.
I was an early Etsy user because I love having unique things and supporting artists. I've never wanted to wear the same thing as anyone else. I can't remember if your shop was featured or I just happened across it, but I found it and loved it.
The instrument on the wall is called a zhongruan. My boyfriend is a musician and designs sound systems. He did a system for a concert hall in Singapore a few years ago. They had musicians come in to test out the sound and one was playing a zhonguan, which is like a Chinese guitar. He fell in love with the sound so bought one.
I decided to design everything on the piano wall around our shared love of music during COVID lockdown when we were home all the time. There's framed 18th-century French sheet music (my boyfriend is French Canadian), a Sigur Ros LP, a soundwave of one of our favorite songs (Seasons by Chris Cornell), a linocut of a Radiohead song title, and the Picasso print in the middle, which is the first gift I ever gave my boyfriend. On the piano, you can also see an antique Edison cylinder record, a tarot hand doing the rock hand sign, and antique postcards of the Greek Theatre in Berkeley and the Hollywood Bowl (both places we've been to concerts together).
I'm originally from New Jersey. I moved to the Bay Area after college to find a job at an ad agency because I love the area and it was a top city for advertising. My sister was a grad student at Stanford, so we got a place together and I've been here ever since. I left the agency world years ago and mostly work in-house for mission-driven companies."
Thank you Robyn!
